The Decatur County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) provides services and equipment in response to any emergency, man-made or natural in nature, in a direct or supporting role to the citizens of Decatur County and any other area within the State of Indiana as called upon to do so by recognized authorities.
EMA is expected to maintain and activate, if necessary, the emergency warning system siren within Decatur County. EMA is also involved in and manages several Homeland Security projects within Decatur County. This includes, but is not limited to, hazardous materials response, maintaining both a local and regional incident response unit made up of paid personnel and volunteers.
Generally, EMA is poised to try and facilitate the necessary response of expertise and equipment to any crisis or disaster within Decatur County and surrounding counties.
